Final results: Jack Boehringer Memorial Regatta | Significant Purple Invitational | Shields Trophy
ITHACA, NY –
On Sept. 17-18, the Maritime College or university dinghy sailing workforce traveled to Cornell for a pair of events—the Jack Boehringer Memorial Regatta and the Massive Red Invitational. The Privateers’ offshore sailors, meanwhile, commenced their 2022-23 campaign at the Shields Trophy, which was hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy.
The two situations at Cornell showcased separate boats. The Jack Boehringer Regatta was contested with FJs, although competition raced 420s in the Major Red Invitational. Due to wind problems delaying the start on Saturday and forcing an early conclude on Sunday, eight races were being finished in every single event.
In the Jack Boehringer Regatta, Maritime experienced 3 boats entered and acquired a merged full of 268 factors, which was fantastic for fifth location. The Privateers’ best pair of Benton Amthor (Yorktown, VA) and Eva Leggett (Brookhaven, NY) gathered 82 details, whilst Spencer Barnes (Rocky River, OH) and Rebecca Runyan (Mastic, NY) concluded just at the rear of their teammates with 87 points. Barnes and Runyan received the next race, with Amthor and Leggett placing 2nd. Amthor and Leggett then acquired the victory in race 3. Maritime’s third crew of Nick Chisari (Locust Valley, NY) and Marcus Adam (Severna Park, MD) experienced a 2nd-position end of their own in the seventh race of the collection.
Maritime entered a pair of groups in the Massive Crimson Invitational. The No. 1 boat of John Vail (Irvington, VA) and Ben Hosford (Fairport, NY) collected 93 details to complete 14th. Their greatest result was fourth in race two. Maritime’s 2nd workforce of Isabelle Gauthier (Pascagoula, MS) and Nicole Schafer (Northport, NY) posted a score of 112 details, which was excellent for 18th location.
Meanwhile, at the Shields Trophy, the Privateers completed seventh overall with 36 points. The teams concluded 6 races in their Navy 44s, and Maritime’s crew of James Willis (Huntington, NY), Alexander Intelligent (Houston, TX), Wesley Pase (Shoreham, NY), Carianna Sconzo (Rockaway Beach, NY), Sean Fogarty (Brick, NJ), Andrew Moreland (Pennsburg, PA), Morris Wilson (San Jose, CA) and Cole Swensen (Port Jefferson, NY) took fourth location in the second race.
Upcoming weekend, the Privateers’ dinghy squad will return to Cornell for the MAISA Best 9/Susan Rogers Memorial Regatta. Maritime will also send out Sonar sailors to the MAISA Match Race at the U.S. Service provider Maritime Academy. The offshore team will be in competitors, as very well, at the American Yacht Club Drop Regatta.
